Noise pollution is the propagation of noise that has a harmful impact on both urban centers and wildlife alike; it is primarily caused by transportation systems and industrial zones. #SayNope is a campaign inspired by the #MeToo movement and its ability to use social media and the power of communication to create positive change. Our goal was to gather all the information we could on the harmful effects of noise pollution and to bring awareness to an issue that is very much present and relevant— yet virtually unnoticed. Ironically, noise pollution is the pollution you that never hear about.

Eating breakfast has always been an important part of a person’s daily life. Or, at least, it should be. Sadly, not everyone in the world understands how important it is to start the morning off right with a nutritious breakfast. Skipping this meal can negatively effect a person’s health in many ways, including lead a person to gain unnecessary weight. It should not go on being ignored when it is the meal that can help you focus for the rest of the day and keep up your health. To shine some light on this problem, I have chosen to cover it in my Project Truth infographic in hopes of changing people’s thoughts about skipping breakfast in the morning.
Wonderful World of Weaves
I chose to do my infographic on weave because often times there are misconceptions about weave. In this day and age weave is so popular and common, but people still don’t know how big the Weave industry truly is. I created this to shed light on a topic that is usually not always talked about. I also wanted to find a way to break the stereotype that only black women wear weave.
Prison, when used appropriately is created to reduce crime by preventing its repetition. Those who were incarcerated are expected to return to society as upstanding members who have learned their lesson. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The conditions in prison are not conducive to reforming individuals, there are racial disparities and instead of dangerous criminals being locked there are many people incarcerated for non violent offenses. This infographic serves to inform the reader of the injustices in the prison system.
Most of us are very used to the sounds we hear in everyday life. Loud music, the television, people talking on their phone, the traffic and even pets barking in the middle of the night. All of these have become a part of the urban culture and rarely disturb us. However, when the sound of the television keeps you from sleeping all night or the traffic starts to give you a headache, it stops becoming just noise and start turning into noise pollution. For many of us, the concept of pollution is limited to nature and resources. However, noise that tends to disrupt the natural rhythm of life makes for one solid pollutant.
Transgender people are at an extremely high risk of death just because of their gender identity. Between assault, murders, and improper healthcare, trans people fight for their lives every day. In this infographic, I tried to highlight some jarring statistics that will inform the public about the crimes trans people face along with charts to help visualize the information. I included the TrevorLifeline as a resource to LGBT people, specifically trans, who may read this and realize they need resources, information, or a listening ear. I intend to bring public awareness to the struggle of transgender people so that cisgender individuals (identify as birth sex) can take steps to speak up and fight for trans people’s right to live.
The Mandela refers to a phenomenon in which a large number of people share false memories of past events. The Mandela Effect fascinates many due to the commonality of the memories, such as The Bearenstein Bears being The Bearenstain Bears. It has sparked a popular theory that we are constantly passing through alternate universe, or that we live in a virtual reality.
Amur Leopards are one of the rarest big cats in the world with an estimated 60 solitary individuals left in the wild. My infographic is on Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, CO. Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in North America. I traveled to Colorado this summer and took the cog rail trail up to the peak and the view and atmosphere up there is breathtaking. For my infographic, I will cover the data including how many people visit at different times of year depending on the weather and what percentage of people drive up, hike up, or take the cog rail up to the top, etc.
