I am going to work with the history of the Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, and found out the interesting things of the museum.

Architect information:

  • Philip Cortelyou Johnson
  • July 8, 1906 – January 25, 2005
  • American architect

“Founded in 1919, MWPAI continues to evolve while maintaining traditions of fine art and culture. The Museum of Art features a renowned permanent collection, fascinating exhibitions and education for all ages in an International-style gallery building designed by world famous architect Philip Johnson and also in Fountain Elms, a superb Victorian-era Italianate mansion.”

“The Institute is named for three generations of one Utica, NY family. Alfred Munson (1793-1854), who moved from Connecticut in 1823, accumulated the initial family fortune from industrial interests in the Northeast, including the manufacturing of burrstones and textiles, coalmines, canal development, and railroad and steamboat transportation.”

This week, I keep working on my own project. I just thought about, I not only need some image references, but also need more sketching about those references. Sketching helps me to learn the structure of the objects. During the sketching, I got more ideas than I just saw the images.

I will update the color composition for this idea in this weekend.

Read more to see my reference images.
