Death, Disease, and Drugs


The number of people injecting drugs in the United States has augmented, as a result of the opioid epidemic that has swept the nation. An estimated 52,000 lives will be taken by opiods by the end of 2018 and approximately half a million more in the next ten years. My infographic focuses on the the correlation of substance abuse and the spread of Viral infections like HIV, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis. It Addresses the historical backdrop that played a role in the prevalence of drug use, the effects on the body, and the death toll in conjunction to the spread of disease. These are two prominent problems in the United states that go hand in hand, by eliminated one, we can drastically affect the outcome of the other.
