11: Greek Myths

I will be starting this project off by focusing on retelling Greek Mythology, following the steps of Rick Riordan and George O’Connor.

I’m going to start with my personal favorite, the story of Hades and Persephone.

Process for Joe’s Zelda Piece

As many people may know our amazing “IT guy” Joe Sabo is a huge fan of Zelda. I myself have never played a Zelda game but my brother loved them so I knew enough to spark a conversation with Joe about it. He told me he loved my style and would like to see how I could mix it with the world of Zelda. So I got to work, I did some research on the big baddy from the games and the different iterations he went through over the years. The one known as “Pig Ganon” stuck out to me the most. I made a sketch turning this already big bulky monster into something far more scary. I then looked into where Pig Ganon would reside in the games where he appeared and found this grey blocky tower and loved the retro feel so I decided to keep it as simple as possible. Next I needed some narrative, Ganon is always after the 3 pieces of the Triforce which is a sacred golden relic left behind by the Golden Goddesses, Din, Nayru, and Farore. Each piece represent a virtue, wisdom, courage, and power and each virtue is represented by a color, blue, green and red (respectively).

All in all what I put together for Mr. Sabo is the mighty warlock Ganon standing triumphant over a defeated Link (the viewer) holding all three pieces of the Triforce with his dark tower looming in the distance.
